Browns rookie WR Jamari Thrash reveals what NFL wide receivers he watches most
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns drafted just two players on offense in the 2024 NFL Draft with only one being a potential playmaker for the team.

The Browns took WR Jamari Thrash out of Louisville in the fifth-found of the draft. Thrash comes as another wideout under GM Andrew Berry that he will try to make work out, which hasn’t been the easiest for Cleveland lately.

Coming into the league — Thrash doesn’t exactly model his game after anyone — but there are a few star wide receivers that he finds himself watching.

“I watch a lot of film on guys. Like, I watch a lot of Davante Adams [and] Devonta Smith. Ja’Marr Chase is probably one of my favorite receivers,” Thrash explained on Friday. “But I don’t really just try to idolize my game after those guys. I just try to be me.”

There is certainly nothing wrong with watching film on those guys, as they’re some of the standouts at the position in the league. Chase is someone that Thrash will get an up-close look at twice a year when the Browns play the Cincinnati Bengals.

Thrash is a good route runner and was productive throughout college between his time at Georgia State and then at Louisville. In 2022, Thrash had over 1,100 yards at Georgia State before following it up with nearly 900 at Louisville in 2023. When it comes to the biggest adjustment in the NFL, a few things stand out for Thrash.

Cleveland won’t heavily rely on Thrash as a rookie, instead, he will have a chance to make the team as depth and work his way up from there.

“Definitely playbook. Playbook. Just understanding my assignment and my alignments, like playing in NFL, the hashes, they’re a lot closer. You got more field to play with. So just understanding the alignments and assignments,” Thrash explained.
