One of the most talked about players for the Wolverines during the 2023 offseason was converted cornerback Amorion Walker, who was previously a wide receiver for the Maize and Blue. So far, Walker has been ruled ‘out,’ however, Jim Harbaugh gave a Michigan football injury update that bodes well for the Wolverines heading into Week 5 against Nebraska.

Michigan football injury update for Amorion Walker

Amorion Walker is a massive 6-foot-3, 180+ pound defensive back for Michigan football. Heading into the year, with some depth concerns in the cornerback room, Walker was moved from wide receiver to CB and immediately made a notable impression on 9th-year head coach Jim Harbaugh.

During fall camp, Harbaugh updated us that Walker was out with an injury; so far this fall, he has yet to see the field for the Wolverines. Still, last weekend, Amorion Walker was moved from “out” to “questionable,” showing signs of progress for the sophomore defender. Yesterday, Jim Harbaugh gave another Michigan football injury update on Walker.

“Amorion Walker is starting to look really good in practice,” Jim Harbaugh said. Harbaugh also mentioned that, when Walker does return, he will be among the defensive backs frequently rotated in and out of the defensive secondary. Thus far, the Wolverines’ defensive backs — even freshmen such as DJ Waller — have been stepping up in a big way for Michigan through four games.

Wolverines have a number of defenders back for Week 5

On top of Walker’s status update, Michigan football has a number of other major players returning from injury. Over the weekend, for the first time this fall, Michigan got three major players back on defense: Rod Moore (S), Will Johnson (CB), and Makari Paige (S) all took the field together for the first time this year.

This weekend, keep an eye out for Amorion Walker to potentially return to the field when the Wolverines take on Nebraska football for the team’s 2023 road opener. Even if he doesn’t it sounds like the sophomore cornerback is getting closer, and should return shortly.
