Now that the Wolverines’ 2023-24 season is over and the transfer portal is open, there are several ex-Wolverines in search of a new home. One such Michigan football transfer loss is cornerback Amorion Walker, who was previously a wide receiver until the 2023 season and is currently projected to commit to a top-ranked SEC power: the Ole Miss Rebels.

Michigan football transfer loss Amorion Walker projected to SEC team

Ole Miss is coming off of an 11-2 season, which concluded with a statement win over the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Peach Bowl. According to a new crystal ball from 247 Sports, the Rebels are also trending towards landing a major target out of the transfer portal: Amorion Walker, a former wide receiver and cornerback for Michigan football.

Heading into the 2023 season, Amorion Walker had tons of hype surrounding him — he was freshly moved from wide receiver to cornerback, and there was all kinds of fall camp buzz surrounding his potential for the Maize and Blue. While an injury kept Walker off the field for much of the year, most believed that he could become a major asset for Jesse Minter’s elite defense down the road.

Heading into the 2024 season, Michigan football could use some new cornerbacks; despite the fact that Will Johnson is staying, Amorion Walker is a notable transfer portal loss for the Wolverines, who had the No. 1 defense nationally (by far) last season.

Only time will tell whether Ole Miss and the SEC will land the Michigan football transfer loss, though it’s clear that Amorion Walker is a very coveted transfer portal target for a number of the country’s top programs right now.
